CAC was formed in 1996 and is affiliated with ERRChina. The ongoing purpose of both organizations is to promote good will and understanding between North American and Chinese cultures through educational services as well as cultural and academic exchange.

CAC welcomes colleges, universities, and seminaries as institutional members. We also invite Christian scholars to join as individual members. This creates a network of friends of CAC that facilitates dialogue between academics in North America and China.

Annual Membership Conferences: CAC arranges annual membership meetings for institutional delegates and individual members to dialogue with Chinese scholars and Christian China watchers.

International Conferences: As the need arises, CAC sponsors conferences and symposia. Past projects include the inaugural symposium of the Department of Religious Studies in Peking University in 1996 and Philosophy and Religion symposia from 1997-1999.

Publication and Translation Projects: CAC selects suitable Christian scholarly books to be translated for Chinese readers. Since 2007, CAC has cooperated with the Sino-Christian Study Center in Hong Kong to translate ten books on the topic of public ethics for publication in China and Hong Kong.

Annotated Bibliography
CAC’s website has a bilingual online database of summaries of Christian books released by publishing companies in China since 1986. This database, spanning over 500 academic and popular titles, is useful for research about Christianity in China.

CAC Fellows Program
Since 2008, CAC has been sponsoring an intensive seminar in Hong Kong to train about 35 Chinese Christian faculty members on biblical and theological topics. These seminars provide opportunity for western scholars to mentor current Chinese Christian leaders.
Since 1997, CAC has annually sponsored a number of Chinese religious studies faculty members to come to the USA to attend the annual conference of the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature, which draw some ten thousand scholars from around the world.

Chinese Worldviews Course
CAC collaborates with Denver Seminary to offer an annual summer seminar on “Chinese Worldviews Today.” The course takes place in Beijing and Xi’an and helps seminarians, professionals and ministry workers to engage the Chinese culture and people on both personal and academic levels.

CAC Teaching Program
CAC sends Christian scholars to teach Christianity and related courses in China and Hong Kong. Past participants (1996-2016) include:
